Oakridge Office Park
On a village edge site at Alderbury near Salisbury, an L- shaped block of business starter units were successfully translated from a feasibility study to a fully constructed scheme.
The site positioning forms a new gateway at the approach to the village and serves to enclose the landscaped, open- sided courtyard which serves as parking for the development. Each unit was provided with a fully finished double height open plan space for maximum flexibility with fully fitted toilets and provision for a small kitchen area.
The planners insisted that the units responded to the local vernacular style of the nearby public house and agricultural buildings. Each 1,500 sq ft unit had sufficient height and an open roof structure complete with rooflights to allow for the future addition of a mezzanine floor. Lintels were built into the walls that separated units such that openings could be readily formed with minimal disruption to create a double-sized workshop. Some units were pre-let prior to completion so incorporated further fitting out to suit the tenants’ needs.
